May 4

Depart Canada

May 5

Welcome to Italy!

After your long flight you will transfer to the Naples Palazzo Salgar Hotel where you will meet the group at a welcome dinner.  Then you will settle in for the evening.

May 6

After breakfast we will depart Naples for Matera where we will arrive around lunchtime.  You will have all afternoon to explore this ancient city in the Basilicata region.  Matera is known for its homes and underground churches carved into stone and is one of the oldest inhabited settlements in the world.  You will have time to grab lunch at one of the quaint street cafes and explore the city.

We will then travel to the Brindisi region where we will arrive at the beautiful Masseria San Martino, a working olive farm that has transformed its production facilities into stunning accommodations.  We will enjoy an alfresco dinner in the courtyard before we turn in for the evening.

May 7

You will wake up to an optional gentle flow yoga under the one-thousand-year-old olive trees, mats provided.  It doesn’t get much more serene than that!  After breakfast we will offer a guided meditation to help us set an intention for the week followed by a short journalling activity to capture all that you are excited for and hope to experience.

After a short drive to Fasano, we will spend the afternoon experiencing the life of the locals shopping at the local market for all things delicious and beautiful.  Lunch on your own will allow you to find your taste of southern Italy here!

The next stop will be at the cooperative where the San Martino olive oil is processed.  We will learn all about the process, and taste of course! When we return to Masseria San Martino, you will have a little free time to relax, maybe you will choose a cocktail by the pool; followed by alfresco dinner at about 7:30 pm.

May 8

You will wake up again to an optional gentle flow yoga followed by breakfast.  After breakfast we will depart for Alberobello, home to over 1000 Trulli built in the 14 and 15th centuries, hear the stories of the small homes with cone shaped roofs most of which are now shops, cafes, and guesthouses.  Explore the city, have a relaxing lunch on your own, people watch, shop and find the best gelato in the city.

The next stop will be at a local vineyard and winery where we will learn about the history of wine making and sample some of the regions finest wines.  You will have a little free time when we arrive back to Masseria San Martino before another alfresco dinner at 7:30 pm.

May 9

After a few days on the go, we decided to let you sleep a little later and enjoy a quiet morning to yourself before breakfast.  After breakfast we will roll up our sleeves and dive into the kitchen with Concetta to make some local traditional foods including orecchiette pasta, eggplant parmigiana, taralli, tiramisu, and focaccia which we will enjoy for lunch!  After a lunch like that we planned an afternoon guided cycling experience where we will pedal about 6 km to the Adriatic Sea!  (E-bike optional if pre-booked) If cycling isn’t your thing feel free to have a pool day for this time slot.  We will end the day with another alfresco dinner where you can share your favorite experiences so far!

May 10

After breakfast we will say goodbye to our hostesses Teresa and Concetta and depart Masseria San Martino.  We will stop in the town of Paestum where we will have a guided tour of the roman ruins and lunch before arriving to our destination of Sorrento.  We will check into Hotel Ascot where we will spend the next few evenings.  Dinner will be at your leisure on your own or with some of your newfound friends.

May 11

After breakfast we will depart for the stunning cliffside town of Positano where you will find breathtaking views, the church of Santa Maria Assunta, famous for its majolica-tiled dome, small pebble beaches, cafes and shopping!  You will have the freedom to create your own day in Positano and explore what makes your heart flutter. At 5 pm we will take the transportation back to our hotel where we will again have dinner on our own.

May 12

After breakfast we will depart for the day filled with agritourism providers including cheese making, lemon farms, limoncello, other produce and a farm to table lunch included.  This evening we will have an organized group dinner included followed by time to relax and pack your suitcase once more for the morning departure to Naples.

May 13

After breakfast we will travel back to Naples where we will experience the wonder of Pompeii with a guided tour followed by a traditional Neapolitan lunch included at a farm at the foot of Mount Vesuvius.  We will round out the day with a sunset boat tour followed by a group farewell dinner. We will check back into the Hotel Palazzo Salgar to retire for the evening. Be sure to check in for your morning flight home, unless you are extending your stay.
