    Itinerary:

    Day 1 - Arrive Lima
Depart North America today and arrive in Lima, Peru. You are welcomed and transferred to the hotel.

Day 2 - Lima - City Tour & Larco Herrera Museum
Lima has long been considered the colonial capital of South America. Founded in 1535, Lima was called the "City of Kings" by the Spanish conquistadors. Visit the Plaza de Armas, the Government Palace, the Cathedral, the Santo Domingo or San Francisco convents and the modern garden suburb districts of Miraflores and San Isidro. At the Larco Herrera Museum, see the ancient relics and shining treasures of the mighty Incas. Lunch included at Larco Herrera Museum. (BL)

    Day 3 - Lima / Cuzco / Sacred Valley
Fly to Cuzco, the oldest inhabited city in the Western Hemisphere. Full day Authentic Sacred Valley tour discovers the best of the Sacred Valley of the Incas through this route starting on the Inca's Balcony, a beautiful place with an impressive view of Chinchero ruins and city, where twelve families still preserve their traditional mores, showing you the ancestral way in which they process the wool, and obtain those vivid colors for their textiles. Later, we will arrive Moray, an impressing pre-Inca greenhouse, then, we will have lunch in a local restaurant. Later travel to Ollantaytambo, one of the most monumental architectural complexes of the ancient Inca Empire, one of the few places where the Spanish conquistadors lost a major battle.  Very well known for its “Andenes” (terraces dug into the slopes of mountains for agricultural purposes), Ollantaytambo was a highly effective fortress, that also served as a temple.  Then, we will follow to the town of Ollantaytambo, with narrow cobblestone streets that have been continuously inhabited since the XIIIth century. (BL)

Day 4 - Sacred Valley / Machu Picchu
Travel aboard the Vistadome train from Ollantaytambo to the archeological wonder of Machu Picchu, built in the late 14th century. Machu Picchu was obviously a well-planned and carefully built city, made up of two clearly different sectors-one agricultural and the other urban. With mountains to one side and a river roaring far below, this solemn fortress is a fascinating remnant of a once-bustling city that was mysteriously abandoned after the middle of the 16th century. Secreted amidst dense jungle vegetation and steep hills, Machu Picchu remained undiscovered by the modern world until 1911. Learn about the many legends and strange truths of these ancient ruins from your local guide. (BLD)

    Day 5 - Machu Picchu / Cuzco
Today enjoy the tranquility of the morning. This morning you will have some free time to wander the charming village of Aguas Calientes or pay locally to take the coach up to the Citadel and wander the ruins at your own pace inhaling the magic that is Machu Picchu. After lunch at the hotel, return to Cuzco aboard the “Inca Train.” Sip a cup of tea and enjoy panoramic views as the beautiful greenery of the Urubamba Valley rolls by. (BL)

    Day 6 - Cuzco / Sacsayhuaman
Half day city tour and nearby archeological sites: You will visit the city of Cusco, declared a World Heritage Site by Unesco and home to a somewhat particular essence. The tour will start at the Koricancha temple, an ancient Inca palace and main worship center of the Sun God, where the order of the Dominicans built an incredible church that can still be seen there. Then, you will tour the Plaza de Armas, where the Cathedral and the beautiful Church of the Society of Jesus, among other colonial buildings, are located. You will then continue the journey to the colonial church of San Cristóbal to enjoy a spectacular view of the city. Afterwards you will go on to the fortress of Sacsayhuaman, an Inca building known for its massive walls of hewn stone, located in a strategic location, on a hill, with a broad view of the city of Cuzco. Later, you will visit the important archaeological complexes of Qenko and Puca Pucara. Overnight at the hotel. (BL)

    Day 7 - Cuzco / Lima
Fly back to Lima this morning. You have free time before driving to an excellent restaurant for a farewell lunch. The remainder of your afternoon and evening is free before you pack for your late-night departure. (BL)
